Delete your ReconStar data
Because ReconStar has no account, connected deletion is authenticated with a random, pseudonymous installation credential kept in operating-system secure storage.
Delete from the app
- Connect the device to the internet if you have used connected reports or remote aurora alerts.
- Open Settings in ReconStar.
- Select Delete my ReconStar data, then confirm.
- Wait for the result message. It distinguishes confirmed remote deletion, local-only deletion and a failed remote attempt.
What local deletion removes
ReconStar clears its local preferences, interests, saved places and exact coordinates, trips, monitored-place choices, reminder schedules, local alert history, cached connected reports, stored connected-service credentials and local Pro entitlement cache when the applicable deletion step succeeds.
Clearing the local Pro entitlement does not cancel a subscription or erase purchase history held by Apple or Google. It also removes ReconStar's pseudonymous connected entitlement record. A subscription must be cancelled separately in the relevant store; Restore purchases can re-establish access through the same store account.
What confirmed connected deletion removes
A successful request deletes the pseudonymous installation record from the ReconStar connected service. This also deletes its push token, remote-alert subscriptions, alert delivery records and optional usefulness feedback.
The live database deletion is immediate. Cloudflare D1 recovery history may retain an earlier encrypted database state for up to 30 days before that recovery history expires. It is not used to continue app service after deletion.
Shared public-condition cache entries, aggregated service counters and source-status records do not contain the installation ID, so they are not linked to the installation or included in its deletion.
If the service cannot be reached
The app clears local content and cached reports but retains the secure deletion credential — a random, pseudonymous installation secret — so the user can authenticate a later retry. It does not report the connected records as deleted.
Do not uninstall the app, clear its secure storage or discard the device before remote deletion is confirmed if you used connected features and want the app to authenticate the deletion request. Reconnect, return to Settings and repeat the action.
If connected features were unavailable
The app clears its local data, report cache and any locally generated secure connection information. No ReconStar registration was sent to a connected service.
If the device is lost or unavailable
ReconStar stores no name or email address against the installation. Without the device's installation credential, StarSpun Labs may be unable to identify or authenticate deletion of a particular pseudonymous registration. We will not disclose or delete a registration merely because an unauthenticated person supplies a possible location or notification description.
Records controlled by other providers
- Apple retains App Store purchase and account records, and Google retains the corresponding Google Play records, under their own policies. ReconStar deletion does not cancel, refund or erase a store transaction.
- Cloudflare, Expo, Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging and NASA Earthdata may retain infrastructure, delivery or request logs under their own configured or published periods.
- MET Norway and NOAA SWPC do not receive a ReconStar account identifier. Requests to those public-data services cannot be retrieved by ReconStar as a user account history.
