Feature availability

This page explains what each part of ReconStar depends on. It does not report current service incidents.

• On-device astronomyOffline-capable
  Sun, Moon, planet, meteor and eclipse calculations do not require the connected service.
• Weather conditionsConnected feature
  Requires internet access, the ReconStar service and current data from MET Norway.
• Postcode and address lookupPlatform-connected feature
  Available in the installed app when Apple or Google's platform location service is reachable. Offline town and city search remains available without it.
• Aurora conditionsConnected feature
  Requires internet access, the ReconStar service and current NOAA SWPC data.
• Remote alertsConnected feature
  Requires notifications to be enabled and depends on ReconStar, network and platform push services.
• ReconStar ProStore-dependent
  Purchase, renewal, verification, cancellation and restoration depend on the Apple App Store or Google Play account used on the device. Background monitoring also requires a recently verified entitlement.

If a connected feature is unavailable

Check the report's source update or retrieval time and retry when the device has a connection. ReconStar marks connected information as stale or unavailable when it cannot confirm current data.

You can continue using the on-device astronomy calendar. Consult official weather, access and safety services before travelling.
